New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her first Budget in the Parliament on Friday. The Modi government has tried to give something to every region in this first budget of its second term.

Let's know what is special for the transport sector in this budget:

  • Affordable, additional income tax deduction of Rs 1.5 lakh will be available on instalment for the loan taken to purchase these vehicles: FM
  • Government has moved the Goods and Services Tax Council to reduce the GST rate on electric vehicles from 12 per cent to five per cent: FM
  • FAME II scheme aims to encourage faster adoption of electric vehicles by the right incentives and charging infrastructure: FM
  • Government envisions using rivers for cargo transport: FM
  • Railway infra would need an investment of Rs 50 lakh crore between 2018 and 2030: FM
  • New metro rail projects have been approved during 2018-19: FM
  • Also, during 2019, 210km of metro lines have been operationalized: FM
  • Schemes such as Bharat Mala, Sagarmala and UDAN are bridging rural-urban divide and improving our transport infrastructure: FM
