The AAI had earlier given Adani enterprise time till 12 November to take over the management of three privatised airports of Ahmedabad, Mangaluru and Lucknow.

The Ahmedabad-based conglomerate was expected to take over the three airports within a six month i.e. by August 2020, but the group had asked the AAI to invoke the force majeure clause to postpone the payment deadline citing disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in the aviation sector.

Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL), the Adani Group flagship, had won the operations and development rights over a 50-year lease from the Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Jaipur and Guwahati airports, the first round of privatization that was held by the Centre in February 2019.
