Woman kills husband, surrenders with severed head

A woman killed her husband and surrendered before the police with his severed head. Reportedly, the woman took the extreme step after years of physical and mental harassment by her husband.

Guwahati: A woman in Assam's Lakhimpur district killed her husband and surrendered before the police with his severed head on Tuesday. According to reports, the woman was fed up of being physically and mentally harassed on a daily basis.

Claiming that she took the extreme step after repeated assaults, the woman said, "He used to beat me up and injure me with an axe. I thought of leaving him but didn't due to my children."

Further, adding that it was an act of self-defence, she said, "I had to do it or he would've killed me."

Police said that the woman admitted to killing her drunk husband in a fit of rage in order to escape his abuse.

While the woman has been sent to judicial custody yesterday, the investigation into the matter is currently underway.
