New Delhi: Jagisha Arora, wife of journalist Prashant Kanojia, on Saturday has filed a Habeas Corpus (bring the person) petition at the Supreme Court challenging the arrest of Kanojia, who has been accused of making an objectionable comment against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on social media.

The note was mentioned to a vacation bench, comprising of justice Indira Banerjee and justice Ajay Rastogi, by a lawyer on Monday that the plea filed by spouse of the arrested scribe needed urgent hearing as the arrest was "illegal" and "unconstitutional".

The court accepted to hear the plea on Tuesday.

Kanojia, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Mass Communications, Delhi on Thursday shared a video on Twitter and Facebook, where a woman is seen speaking to reporters of various media organizations outside the Chief Minister's office claiming that she had sent a marriage proposal to Adityanath.

An FIR was registered against Kanojia by Hazratganj Police Station in Lucknow on Friday night, in which it was alleged that the accused made "objectionable comments against the CM and tried to malign his image".
