Two nabbed for cricket betting in Kolkata

Kolkata Police arrested two men for cricket betting during India and West Indies world cup match on Thursday evening. The police are still in search of other gang members.

Kolkata: Police officials on Thursday, arrested two men after busting a betting racket during the India and West Indies world cup match.

The police nabbed Mohammed Inam alias Guddu (30) from Bagan Lane in the city when they conducted raids in various regions of the Kolkata.

During the investigation, Guddu revealed information about another gang member, Rajkumar Shaw (30) from Topsia Lane, Kolkata.

Later in the day, Rajkumar was caught while he was busy in betting using a desktop and a mobile phone.

Police seized two mobile phones from Guddu's possession alongside other electronic gadgets and cash worth Rs 4,600 from Rajkumar.

A case under section 420/120 B, 2 and 3 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) of West Bengal Gambling and Prize Competition Act has been registered at Beniapukur Police Station.

The police are still in search of other gang members.
