West Bengal: A BJP worker Saraswati Das (42) was shot dead late on Thursday night by unknown miscreants outside her house in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district.
The incident happened in Hasnabad of Basirhat around 9 p.m. outside of her house. Neighbors said they did not get hear any sound of the gunshots.
According to the police, the woman was stepping out of her house to visit her neighbour, when the group of miscreants fired and fled away.
She died on the spot and police took her to the nearby Taki Grameen Hospital.
Das reportedly played an active role in BJP's success in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
BJP officials claim that Das was killed by TMC goons.
"Saraswati Das, BJP worker was brutally shot dead by TMC goons in Basirhat. Law and order has totally collapsed in West Bengal where no one is safe. Mamata Banerjee is also Home Minister of West Bengal," tweeted the official handle of BJP Bengal.
Police are investigating the reason for the murder.
