Bhojpur (Bihar): Witnessing an alarming rise in cancer, Bihar's Bhojpur district has acquired an unsolicited place among cancer zone places in India.
While the number of cancer patients is around 30-35 in many parts of the district, dozens of people have also lost their lives in the last two years.
This village is also known as Cancer zone as there is a continuous increase in the number of patients who are fighting with this deadly disease.
Cancer has started spreading its roots in Chaturbuji Baran village of Bhojpur district, which is just 60 kilometres from the capital of Bihar.
In the last two-three years, over 12 peoples have lost their lives here but neither any government body has looked into the matter nor the state government is paying attention to it.
At present, More than 3o villagers are undergoing the treatment at Patna's Mahavir Cancer Institute. The age group of cancer patients here are between 25-45-years old.
The villagers are demanding that the government should send a special team to investigate the area. They want that cancer specialist and land investigators should come to the village to investigate the causes of cancer.
On this issue, civil surgeon LP Jha said that a team is being sent to investigate the entire matter. It has been instructed to check the amount of arsenic and iron in the water.
