Lucknow: A Saffron-clad yogi seen these days sharing political stages with Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav has become a talking point in the political circles of Uttar Pradesh. The yogi, named Suresh Thakur and resident of Lucknow Cantt area was recently dismissed as LDA clerk by the state government.
Thakur openly conceded that worked as a state government clerk in Lucknow Development Authority but was dismissed on the false charges of corruption. Thakur said he donned saffron a few days before his dismissal and filed his nomination from Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency to expose the BJP.
Thakur claimed to be a follower of Buddha and alleged that his nomination papers were rejected at the behest of BJP. However, his repeated presence at Akhilesh Yadav's rallies has given the BJP a stick to beat gathbandhan.
"BJP came to power at centre on false promises. We don't want people to be misled again. People, this time should vote for Mahagathbandhan instead of BJP," said Thakur.
He further said that that I have been sharing the stage since the cancellation of my nomination and garnering vote for him.
In the reply of one question, he said that I have been given full assurance from Akhilesh Yadav. Although he didn't clarify further about the assurance.
