Silchar: All India United Democratic Front, AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal's supporters shouted Pakistan Zindabad slogans before his arrival at Silchar Airport on Friday. Badruddin Ajmal is also the president of the Assam State Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind. He was elected as Member of Parliament from Dhubri for three consecutive times in 2009, 2014, 2019.
He established the Assam United Democratic Front (AUDF), All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and consolidated its position in Indian politics especially in Assam. The party was founded in 2005 and had won 13 of 126 seats in 2016 legislative assembly election.
He had raised pertinent questions in Lok Sabha regarding citizenship and strongly opposed the National Register of Citizens.AIUDF had filed a plea challenging delimitation exercise in Assam.
According to reports, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal will contest the 2021 Assembly election in alliance with Congress. Following the closure of government-run madrasas in Assam, Ajmal had reiterated that all the Madrasas would be reopened if Congress and AIUDF come to power in Assam in 2021.
