New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the National Digital Health mission today, while addressing the nation from Delhi's iconic Red Fort, on the occasion of India's 74th Independence Day. Under this scheme, every Indian would get a unique ID card that would contain all the relevant health-related information.
"One Health ID card will have the information of every test, every disease, which medicine was prescribed to you by which doctor, what the reports were," Modi added.
Stating that this initiative would be 'completely technology-based', Modi explained that with this health ID card, health services and medicines could be accessed.
"From today a new campaign is going to start in the country. It is the National Digital Health Mission. National Digital Health Mission will bring a new revolution in the health sector in India," the Prime Minister said.
Citing an example what India can do, Modi said before the COVID-19 pandemic, the country was not making N-95 masks, PPE and ventilators, but now it is in a position to export such items.
