Jammu and Kashmir: Suspected militants shot at and injured Anees Ahmed, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party's District Development Council candidate for Anantnag's Sangam on Friday officials said.
"He was attacked by unidentified militants at around 11:45 am near his residence in Sangam(Anantnag)," a senior police official said.
"He has been evacuated to the nearest hospital for advanced treatment as his condition is stated to be critical," he added.
The area has been cordoned and search operations have been launched to nab the culprits.
According to police, Anees had filed his nomination as DDC candidate from Sagam block and was attacked while he was leaving his residence to meet people of his block.
