Amravati (Andra Pradesh): Shivshankar Reddy, a suspect in the YS Viveka murder case, has been taken into custody by CBI officials. Shivshankar Reddy was arrested while being treated at a private hospital in Hyderabad. Shivshankar Reddy was later shifted to the CBI office in Hyderabad.
Shivshankar Reddy was acting as the state secretary to MP Avinash Reddy and was also his close follower. According to Dastagiri's testimony, the name of Shivashankar Reddy came to prominence in the Viveka murder case.
Shivshankar Reddy's name is among the list of suspects that was submitted by Viveka's daughter Sunita in the High Court. Shivshankar Reddy has already been interrogated several times by CBI officials in Kadapa and Pulivendula previously in relation to the case.
Lawyers for Erra Gangireddy, Umashankar and Sunil have filed a counter-petition in the Kadapa sub-court against the CBI approver's petition. Defendants' attorneys strongly objected to Dastagiri's approver petition. The Kadapa court adjourned the case till May 22.
