New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is busy with his work because of floods in the state, the possibility of a third wave of the coronavirus pandemic and viral fever spreading among children, JDU MP Sunil Kumar Pintu has said.

This is the reason why he could not attend the death anniversary of LJP founder Ram Vilas Paswan Sunday, according to Pintu. He said Nitish Kumar sent his condolences in a letter.

JDU MP Sunil Kumar Pintu's statement on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's absence from Ram Vilas Paswan's death anniversary.

Stating that Paswan's son Chirag and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav should not do politics on this matter, the JDU MP said: “Tejashwi Yadav went to the death anniversary of Ram Vilas Paswan to express his condolences but was laughing there and photographed with Chirag and his mother. This kind of behaviour is very unfortunate.”

It may be mentioned here that Chirag Paswan had organised his father's first anniversary programme in Patna Sunday. All the party's veteran leaders attended the event but Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did not come. Chirag said that he had sent an invitation to Nitish Kumar.

“My party people had gone to meet him but Nitish neither met them nor accept the invitation,” Chirag said. “Nitish Kumar has been a compatriot of our leader Ram Vilas Paswan. He should have come on the anniversary. There are moments that are above politics.”

At the same time, Tejashwi said that on such occasions people forget personal differences, but Nitish Kumar cares very little about social customs. Neither Nitish Kumar nor any JDU leader came for the anniversary of Ram Vilas Paswan.

In the 2020 Bihar assembly elections, LJP had fielded candidates against the JDU in every seat, due to which JDU lost about 30 seats and was reduced to 43 seats. Chirag Paswan constantly raises questions about Nitish Kumar's work making the latter see red.

According to sources, Nitish Kumar played a role in making LJP leader and Chirag's uncle Pashupati Paras a cabinet minister in the central government thereby causing a split within the LJP. By doing this, JDU took revenge on Chirag Paswan, but neither the JDU nor Nitish Kumar has ever openly accepted this.
