Chandigarh (Punjab): Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Prem Singh Chandumajra, speaking about the upcoming 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly elections has said that the election will be under the leadership of Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal. Whether Parkash Singh Badal the Former Chief minister of Punjab or Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal will be chosen as the CM face, is to be decided by the final core committee, Chandumajra added.
On the other hand, speculations are rife that while Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has begun poll preparations in the state, the Congress High Command having appointed Navjot Singh Sidhu as the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, may choose the latter as the CM face of the state. Meanwhile, Punjab Congress' spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal targeted the Shiromani Akali Dal alleging that Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal were responsible for the alleged 2015 desecration controversy and that people will neither forget nor forgive them. Of course they have Dalit leaders of BJP but no one will vote for them in the state, Pritpal added.

There is also a political buzz regarding the Aam Aadmi Party, whether it will project a farmer leader as the CM face, however discussions are still on between AAP leader Bhagwant Mann and Harpal Singh Cheema, the Leader of the Opposition in Punjab. In this regard, the AAP spokespersons said that the high command would announce the chief ministerial candidate soon, but the AAP MLAs meeting with the sons of Lalu Prasad Yadav in Bihar has created a new political tone.
