New Delhi: Delhi Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday issued a warrant against the DCP Crime Branch in connection with the Nangal rape case. The warrant has been issued against the DCP for not filing FIR against Rahul Gandhi under the POCSO Act for revealing the identity of the victim.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Dharmendra Singh ordered the DCP to appear before the court on October 9. The court has issued a bailable warrant against the DCP Crime Branch for a surety of RS 5000.
Petitioner Naveen Jindal alleges that "Rahul Gandhi exposed the identity of the parents of the minor victim. An FIR should be lodged against Gandhi under the POCSO Act."
Earlier on Sept. 29 the SHO of Barakhamba Road police station informed the court that he has sent the copy of the complaint to the DSP (Crime) for further necessary action. The court has directed the DSP to file the report at the next hearing. The petitioner argued in the court that a similar petition has also been filed in the Delhi high Court. Meanwhile, the court has directed the petitioner's lawyer to verify the petition filed in the High Court.
On August 1, a nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed by a priest and three employees of a crematorium near the Delhi Cantonment area in southwest Delhi. Following which, Rahul Gandhi had visited to meet her family members. After the visit, Rahul Gandhi had posted the victim's family picture on his Twitter account, which was taken into cognizance by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights and had ordered to remove Gandhi's tweet on 4th August. After that, Twitter had suspended Gandhi's account.
