Uttarakhand: Harish Rawat fears acid attack on Congress's Parivartan Yatra

Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, who is quite active on social media, has created a sensation by claiming that there is a possibility of an acid attack on the Congress's Parivartan Yatra in the state.

Dehradun: Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has created a sensation on social media with a post in which he claimed that there is a possibility of an acid attack by political opponents on Congress leaders when they take out a Parivartan Yatra.

If one wants to instigate students or motivate some people to mix acid in ink and throw this on Congress leaders, this will bring stigma to the politics of Uttarakhand, he wrote in his post, adding that if such an incident happens, it will be a very sad chapter in the politics of the state.

The post has created a sensation within the political circles of the mountain state. Rawat is very active on social media and his posts throw up problems for the government.

In his post, Rawat said that he has received information from two sources about the possibility of an acid attack during the Parivartan Yatra which he said was worrying.

“There should be rivalry in politics but it should be healthy rivalry, ideological commitment, rivalry to act, but if you instigate students or motivate some persons to throw acid mixed in ink at your political opponents, it will be a stigma for the politics of Uttarakhand,” he stated.

Stating that if such an incident, one can easily guess the political party behind it, he wrote: “So that's why as soon as I got the information, I am sharing it with everyone including administrative agencies, police and political parties. I pray to my mother Poornagiri that this should not happen.”

Rawat, however, stated that that this is only a apprehension, but if such an attempt is made then it will be a very sad chapter in the politics of Uttarakhand.
