Lucknow: The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has taken seriously the matter of not giving reservation to the economically weaker sections (EWS) of the society. The court has asked the state government why 10 percent EWS reservation has not been given in the recruitment of Anganwadi workers and gave it two weeks' time to respond.

This order was given by a single bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh on a petition related to the service of Godavari Singh and another person.

It was argued on behalf of the petitioners that the reservation in the online advertisement related to the said recruitment has been given only to SC, ST and OBC candidates. The said advertisement has been issued without giving reservation to the economically weaker section of the general category.

It was mentioned that the district magistrates of various districts had also sought guidelines from the government regarding the implementation of EWS reservation. Despite the requests of the district magistrates, the matter has not been clarified.

The petition demanded that the said recruitment and its mandate be canceled. It also demanded that a selection committee should be constituted according to the instructions of the Government of India. Along with seeking a reply from the government, the court has also directed the petitioner side to file a reply. The next hearing of the case will be after three weeks.
