New Delhi: Two mentally unsound women, in two separate cases, complained to the police that they were raped. In a case reported from New Delhi, a doctor treating the victim allegedly raped her after sedating her while in another case, a woman was allegedly raped in a government hospital in Karnataka's Mysuru where she was availing treatment.
A 28-year-old woman from New Delhi alleged that her psychiatrist raped her after offering her a soft drink laced with a sedative. Dr Chand, the accused, is at large after the police registered an FIR against him.

The victim had been consulting Dr Chand, who runs a psychiatric clinic at Mustafabad in New Delhi, since last year. On June 27, on the pretext of taking the victim to a senior government psychiatrist, Dr Chand took her to an apartment where he offered her a soft drink laced with a sedative and allegedly raped her after she fell unconscious. The woman narrated her ordeal with her relatives who filed a police complaint against the doctor. As soon as Dr Chand was apprised that an FIR had been registered against him, he went underground.
In another case reported from Mysuru, a 30-year-old woman suffering from Dementia was allegedly raped at a government hospital. Though the incident took place a few days ago, it came to light only now. Family members of the victim alleged that the chief doctor at the hospital tried to hush up the case though they complained to him within a few hours after the incident.
According to the police complaint filed by the family members, the accused, fully aware of the victim's mental health, barged into her room in the hospital by breaking open the window and took sexual advantage of her. They alleged that the chief doctor, whom they registered their grievance with, did not heed to their plight. Not only this, the hospital officials also threatened the victim with dire consequences if she revealed the matter. The case was then taken up by the Human Rights Commission, which helped the victim file a police complaint.
