New Delhi: Press Secretary to the Afghan embassy in India Abdulhaq Azad on Monday confirmed that the embassy's Twitter handle seems to have been hacked. Azad tweeted, "I have lost access to the Twitter handle of @AfghanistanInIN, a friend sent a screenshot of this tweet, (this tweet is hidden from me). I have tried to log in but can’t access it. Seems it is hacked. @FMamundzay @FFazly @hmohib."
A tweet criticizing former President Ashraf Ghani, who fled the country after the Taliban gained control over Afghanistan, was also posted from the embassy handle and was later deleted. Sources within the embassy said that unusual activity was detected on the Afghan embassy Twitter handle.

The Taliban insurgents set their foot on Kabul on Sunday. As the Taliban made their way into Afghanistan's capital, former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani stepped down from his post and flew out of the country.
Meanwhile, on Monday, all commercial flights from Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul have been suspended, a statement read. People have also been advised to avoid crowding at the airport, the statement further read.

On Sunday, a New Delhi bound Air India flight carrying 129 passengers from Afghanistan arrived at New Delhi. Government sources have said that India is closely monitoring the development in Afghanistan. However, no official statement has been released by the Ministry of External Affairs on the development yet.
