New Delhi: Hours after the Taliban said that it will not enter Kabul by force, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid on Sunday said to prevent looting and chaos, their forces have been asked to enter some parts of Kabul and occupy outposts that have been evacuated by security forces, according to TOLO news Afghanistan. He asked the people to not panic from their entrance into the city.

The development happened soon after Afghan President Ashraf Ghani left Afghanistan as the Taliban took over the war-ravaged country. Local media reports suggest that Ghani had resigned as President and left the country for Tajikistan.

Later, Abdullah Abdullah, the head of the Afghan National Reconciliation Council, confirmed Ghani had left in an online video. “He left Afghanistan in a hard time, God hold him accountable," Abdullah said.

In the face of the unabated violence perpetrated by the Taliban in the war-torn country, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani finally gave up power as the Taliban formed an interim government after talks between the Afghan govt and Taliban negotiators.

Earlier in the day, after a month-long offensive against the Afghan security forces, the Taliban fighters finally reached the gates of Kabul. Later, Taliban leader Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar arrived in Kabul to negotiate the transfer of power at the Presidential Palace.

The Taliban had ordered its members to wait near the Kabul gates and not try to enter the city.

They had said the government will be responsible for the security of Kabul until the transition process is done and that they are not seeking revenge and all civilian and military officials will remain safe.

Meanwhile, former Afghanistan president Hamid Karzai has announced that a committee has been formed for a smooth transition of power to the Taliban.

Abdullah Abdullah, the chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation, former mujahideen leader and chief of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin party Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, and former president Hamid Karzai are members of this committee.
