Kabul: A delegation of the Taliban led by Khalil Al-Rahman Haqqani has met Chairman of Afghanistan's High Council for National Reconciliation Abdullah Abdullah and assured him that they will work for the security of the people of Kabul after their takeover of the city.
Taking to his personal Twitter handle, Abdullah said that former President Hamid Karzai, Speaker of the lower house of the National Assembly Fazal Hadi Muslimyar and several other elders were also present at the meeting that was held at his residence here Wednesday.
During the meeting, Abdullah reiterated his official position that he supported an independent and unified Afghanistan based on justice and fairness.

“History shows that in the absence of social justice, proving security and strengthening national unity is impossible,” he told the delegation.
“Mr Haqqani assured the participants that they will work hard to provide the right security for the citizens of Kabul, & asked for the help & support of political leaders & elders of the country to provide security for the people,” Abdullah tweeted.
With the Taliban sweeping into power again after capturing Kabul Sunday, chaos and panic continue in Afghanistan as civilians have started fleeing from that country.
