Patna: Eight people were killed and several others were injured in lightning strikes across various districts in Bihar. Among those injured are still battling for their lives and are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Two persons and three buffaloes were struck by lightning in the Simri block of Buxar. According to the information, Nagendra Chaudhary and Yadav died due to electrocution. Both the persons were working in their fields when they were struck by thunder.

A woman died due to lightning in Kamatpur village under Shambhuganj police station limits in Banka. The deceased has been identified as Shalu Devi. While another person was killed in the lightning strike in the Puranbigha area of the district. Also, one other person suffered burn injuries.

Two brothers were also struck by lightning in Pipra village of Jaitia Panchayat under Chanpatia PS limits in ​​West Champaran. One of them died on the spot while the other who was seriously injured has been rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Bettiah.

Gangu alias Krishna Nandan Ojha (35), a priest of the Shiva temple located in Ward 22 under Bankatwa Mohalla of Bagaha Nagar, West Champaran, who was sleeping in a room in the temple premises on Thursday afternoon, died on the spot as lightning struck a portion of the temple.

In Paina Panchayat of Chausa block in Madhepura, one person was seriously injured and admitted to the hospital for treatment. At the same time, in Gurdabad under the Chakai police station area of ​​Jamui, a girl died on the spot due to lightning on Thursday, while another girl was injured. The deceased has been identified as a resident of Gurudabad village.
