Mangalore (Karnataka): Customs officials at the Mangalore International Airport (MIA) arrested a Bhatkal based man for smuggling gold worth Rs 10 lacs.
Based on intelligence and surveillance, customs sleuths intercepted the accused who arrived from abroad on February 11.
During the search, the passenger was found to have concealed 200 grams of gold worth Rs. 10 lakh.
The accused was transporting the gold by wrapping it in carbon paper and was hiding it inside the pants and buttons.
The passenger has been arrested under relevant provisions of the Customs Act and the further investigation will follow.
