New Delhi: State Minor Irrigation Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) leader Santosh Suman Manjhi on Tuesday met Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and demanded resumption of international as well as domestic flights to Delhi and Mumbai from Gaya airport. It is learnt that the meeting went on for around 30 minutes.
"Domestic and international aircraft used to operate regularly from Gaya, prior to the Covid period. But at present, the operation of major flights have been suspended. Bodh Gaya, located in Gaya, is a religious place of significance. Vishnupad Temple in Gaya is visited by people from all over the country and abroad. Also, the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya is visited by Buddhist devotees from all over the world," Minister Santosh Manjhi told media post the meet.

The Bihar minister also added saying that the daily direct flights from Gaya to Delhi and Mumbai should be resumed and that Boeing aircraft need to operate between Gaya and Kolkata instead of smaller aircraft so that Buddhists from South East Asian Nations would be able to reach Gaya from Kolkata.
