New Delhi: All India Trinamool Congress MP from West Bengal, Sukhendu Sekhar Ray in a sharp remark during his address in the Monsson Session of Parliament said that Minister of State for Home Affairs is reportedly a Bangladeshi. Ray cited Rule 249 to state that Prime Minister was allowed to lay a list of Ministers before the Cabinet reshuffle. Anyone who skims through Wikipedia would take cognizance of the nationality of Mos, he said. The Deputy Chairman of the House said the point of order is not entertained.
Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition came to the fore supporting Ray. Kharge raised the question whether he is a Bangladeshi. Meanwhile, Leader of the House, Piyush Goyal refuted stating MoS Nitish Pramanik is a first-time Minister. He belongs to tribal community. Goyal said targeting Pramanik is unfortunate.

Later, the Marine Aids to Navigation Bill, 2021 was taken for consideration by the House. Thirty-one bills would be taken up during the Parliament session. It is the first session after the Assembly polls results of Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala. The Parliament session would continue till August 13. Reportedly, the opposition has been gearing up to confront the Centre over the price hike and Covid pandemic.
