Railways to resume providing linen, blankets inside trains

The national transporter, which had suspended the service of providing meals, linen and most of its concessions, has reintroduced most of the facilities.

New Delhi: In view of the declining trend in active Covid cases in the country, the railways issued orders on Thursday to resume providing linen, blankets and curtains inside trains. This provision was suspended amid the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.

In an order issued to general managers of all railway zones, the Railway Board said the supply of these items would resume with "immediate effect". Earlier, the Indian Railways had suspended the service of providing meals, linen and most of its concessions as a measure to contain the spread of the Covid virus as per Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) for Movement of Passengers. Though the meals and linen service have been restored the concessions for passengers remain suspended.
