New Delhi: The 2021 Assembly Elections are going to be really important for the Congress party, especially for the Gandhis as a decent performance of the party can strengthen the family's claim over the post of Congress President or a bad performance can force them to opt-out of the race.
This pressure upon the Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi can be witnessed in his election strategy and campaigning.
The former Congress President himself is looking more assertive, taking the role of lead face of the party and extensively campaigning in the poll-bound states.
Rahul Gandhi has visited more than 60 places to campaign for the party, till date. He has made various visits in the state of Assam, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
During these visits, he has addressed more than 20 public meetings, apart from the interactions with different communities in these states.
While the other senior leaders, who are considered as the close aides of Rahul Gandhi, have been given key responsibilities in these states.
The Wayanad MP made sure that he gives away the complaints of dissenters and emerge as a ground leader in these elections.

He also remained quite aggressive since the beginning of the campaign, from the selection of candidates to fixing an alliance with other political parties.
Gandhi had made it clear that in these Assembly polls, young and new faces should be preferred to contest elections.
The G23 leaders, in their dissent letter, had asserted the need for "visible" leadership in the Congress party.
In terms of Rahul Gandhi, they had repeatedly raised the issue that if he wants to lead the party then he should come to the fore rather than driving the car (Congress party) while sitting at the backseat.
The party's presidential elections which were scheduled to be held in February were delayed due to the Assembly polls.
Many leaders had demanded, during the Congress Working Committee meeting, to hold these elections after the Assembly Polls in 5 states as it may affect the party's performance.

Post May 2, the fate of the tussle between Congress dissenters and party leadership is going to be decided.
The outcome of these Assembly polls will prove whether Rahul's idea of leading a united Congress will survive or whether it will nosedive.
It is also clearly evident that Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi has completely backed out from the responsibilities of her post.
It is likely because of giving a push to her son and to make him the lead face of the grand old party.
In addition to this, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has also come out of her political arena in Uttar Pradesh, to campaign in the States Assam and Kerala.
She is also giving a helping hand to his brother by appeasing the women voters in these poll-bound states.
Her meeting with female tea tribe workers in Assam came as a big boost for Congress. But whether this effect will be displayed in the party's performance in Assembly polls, is yet to be seen.
