Mandi (Himachal): In what was supposed to be a regular search by the police in an alleged case of abetment of a suicide case turned out to be a discovery of over 1000 Aadhaar cards, 2500 speed post letters, call letters, LIC receipt books, chequebooks, certificates of college and school students. Police on Monday seized three sacks from the house of a postwoman who was arrested for abetting her husband to commit suicide in Nawahi of Sarkaghat Mandal in Himachal's Mandi district.
The accused woman Usha Devi serves as a postwoman in the postal department and had been working at the Nawahi post office for the past six years.
The issue came to light after Usha Devi's husband Beli Ram had ended life by consuming poison. In the suicide note, Beli Ram had mentioned his wife, her lover and in-laws responsible for his death. A case under Section 306 was also registered by the deceased's brother Sanjay Kumar, at the Sarkaghat police station which led to the arrest of Usha Devi and others.

When the deceased's brother went to the woman's room and searched, he found three sacks lying. In these sacks, three years of mail comprising of 1,000 Aadhar cards, more than 2500 speed post letters, call letters, LIC receipt books, chequebooks, certificates of college and school students were recovered.
The District Collector of Mandi ordered the SP and SSP of the Postal Department to investigate the matter.
Kumar has alleged that his brother ended his life after he was fed up with his wife's antics and has demanded the strictest action against the accused woman and her paramour.
Meanwhile, the Department of Posts has suspended the woman employee with immediate effect and initiated an investigation against her.
