Chandigarh: The controversy over a recent statement allegedly made by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar refuses to die down. Now, a public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the statement demanding that the Chief Minister be removed from office and his salary be withheld. The High Court may hear the case in the next few days.
This PIL has been filed Advocate Jagmohan Singh Bhatti. According to Advocate Bhatti, this statement of by Khattar is directly promoting violence. He said that the Chief Minister has diminished the dignity of his post by making such a statement.
Khattar had made an allegedly controversial statement at a farmers' rally in Chandigarh. The video of his alleged statement went viral on social media. In the video, CM Khattar is allegedly exhorting people to pick up a stick, and give answer to the angry farmers. He said that if you stay in jail for two or four months, you will become a great leader. He added that he did not care about bail.
