Srinagar: General Officer Commanding 15 Corps, Lieutenant General Devendra Pratap Pandey said that security forces have complete control over the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and people should not worry about the Taliban.
Lt General DP Pandey made the statement when the media asked him if the Taliban's take over in Afghanistan could affect the situation in J&K. He was watching the final match of the Kashmiri Premier League.
He made the comments reportedly after Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh said that the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir was relatively better and peaceful and that there was no threat from the Taliban.
Amid the Taliban's triumph over Afghanistan, the former Army chief also made his remarks. "We have to step up our outreach to Kashmiris, we also have to re-assure them that India will continue to be a secular democracy," former Army chief General Shankar Roychowdhury said earlier, as per reports.

The Taliban entered the Afghan capital on August 15 and proclaimed victorious over the government after months of violence. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled the country after the Taliban's take over and he is reportedly in UAE. The 20-year-old US's campaign in the country came to end and tensions escalated in the country.
Lt General DP Pandey took over as General Officer Commanding 15 Corps on March 18. The 15 Corps handle vigilance operations along 343 kilometres of the Line of Control (LoC) and hinterland operation in Kashmir. He was commissioned into the Sikh Light Infantry Regiment in December 1985 from the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.
