New Delhi: The Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die on Wednesday, bringing an end to the monsoon session while the Rajya Sabha proceedings have been adjourned till 12 noon. It is known that the Opposition has been unrelenting over the Pegasus snooping row, farm laws and other issues, which led to the proceedings of the house being marred since July 19.

Also, the Question Hour has been witnessing disruptions on most of the days while the House managed to pass several bills, including the Constitutional amendment bill that would allow the states to make their OBC lists. Prior to the house being adjourned indefinitely, rich tributes were paid to four former members who had passed away recently, with the members present in the House observing silence for a few minutes.

Congress party, on Wednesday, launched a scathing attack on the Central Government, alleging it of suppressing the voice of Opposition as Lok Sabha has been adjourned sine die, ending the stormy Monsoon Session of Parliament. While speaking to the media, Congress' Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, "Government has left no stone unturned to complaint against us because its only motive is to show the Opposition in bad light and to divert attention from truth."

He further added, "Since the beginning of Parliament Session, all the Opposition parties are unitedly raising people's issues including Covid-19 management, inflation, fuel price hike and repeal of farm laws. We demanded a discussion over Pegasus matter as it is related to the national security." The Congress MP alleged that even after the repeated appeals of Opposition, the Government continued to avoid discussion on Pegasus.

Reacting to Government's allegations that the Opposition was responsible for disrupting the Parliament proceedings, Adhir Ranjan said, "It is the responsibility of the ruling Government to function the house in a proper manner. Opposition's responsibility is to get the attention of Government upon the issues of common people. But Government just wants to bulldoze bills without having any discussion with the Opposition."

When asked about why the Congress did not take part in the meeting called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss over Covid-19 situation, he said, "If all the discussions on important issues would happen outside the Parliament then what is the need to come to the house? Discussions should be done inside the house so that the entire country would know about it." He also attacked the PM by saying that he came to the Parliament on the last day of session, which shows that he is "not interested" in discussing the key issues of this country.

All sacredness of this House was destroyed yesterday when some members sat on the tables and some climbed on the tables, he said. Rajya Sabha witnessed a highly stormy session on Tuesday as Congress MP Pratap Singh Bajwa climbed on the table and threw the rule book at the Chair.
