New Delhi: The wounds of Delhi riots still remain unhealed in the country, while charges and cases have been piling up. The riots which happened in Northeast Delhi, a year ago, killing 53 people, has left tales of pangs and misery while many await justice.
Athar Khan was an youngster who has been arrested and lodged in jail for a year under the charges of conspiracy. He was arrested for leading the protest against CAA in Chand Bagh. Several cases were filed against him and as per sources, he has been granted bail in one of the cases.
Khan's parents have been waiting for long for their son's to return home. Khan's mother in conversation with ETV Bharat said the protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act had been going on peacefully for two months but Kapil Mishra's hate speech had created chaos in Delhi.

Athar's father said Athar played a key role in helping Kapil Mishra win the Assembly elections, but when his son refused to work with Kapil Mishra, the latter took to Twitter to post a picture of him after the Delhi riots. After it went viral, the police started harassing Athar and later put him behind bars, adds Athar's father.
Reports said Athar Khan, a 25-year-old man, was pursuing Bachelor in Business Administration from Sikkim Manipal University. Hailing from a humble financial background, Khan's family couldn't afford lawyers who were demanding exorbitant fees. Khan has not gained the limelight, unlike other imprisoned activists, as per reports.
The clash between supporters and opponents of the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act ravaged parts of Delhi and injured over 200 people. As per reports, 1,753 arrests in 755 FIRs, 1,553 named in 342 charge sheets were recorded till February 2021.
