New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has informed the Supreme Court that Class 12 students who may not be satisfied with their results will have the option of appearing in exams physically, which will be conducted any time between August 15 and September 15.
The fresh affidavit of CBSE has come in response to the apex court's directions to provide a date for optional exams to the dissatisfied students, dispute resolution mechanism and to specify a time for declaration of results. The directions were passed on a petition seeking the cancellation of board exams.
CBSE has told the court that for students' dispute regarding computation of results, a committee will be constituted by the CBSE and the results for Class 12 will be declared by July 31. For compartment / private students the policy will be in line with the 2019-2020 assessment policy that was approved by the top court.
The matters pertaining to exams had come up before Justice AM Khanwilkar. It was argued by one of the parents' association that students should be given the chance to appear physically at the beginning only and there should be a uniform policy by CBSE and ICSE. Senior Advocate, Vikas Singh, appearing for them pleaded that the scheme announced by both the boards is complicated and even teachers are not able to understand it. There are also chances of manipulation by schools who have not put on record the performance of students, submitted Singh.
