New Delhi: After the arrests made by Delhi police over the posters criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, opposition parties hit out at the Centre on the vaccine strategy.
Meanwhile, BJP also retaliated and asked oppositions to stop politicizing vaccine issues as the country is fighting against the global pandemic.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Bharatiya Janata Party National Spokesperson Sudesh Verma said, "Oppositions are spreading a rumor and are trying to discredit the government. Because the fact is that when the Serum Institute contracted with AstraZeneca for vaccine manufacturing, it had the conditions that the vaccines to be given the Vaccine Alliance countries first once India gets."
"The government fulfilled this contract but the oppositions have spread rumors by launching such an attack on the government. Today the support that India is receiving all over the world is due to this vaccine and our vaccine has been used for health workers and UN forces all over the world. And because of this, India is being appreciated all over the world but oppositions are trying to discredit the government," Verma said.
Nearly 1,800 digitally printed posters, reading “Modiji hamare bachchon ki vaccine videsh kyon bhej diya?” (Modiji, why did you send vaccines meant for our children abroad?) were found in east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri between Wednesday and Thursday.
On Thursday, the police had received information about the posters, following which senior officers of the districts were alerted. Based on further complaints, 17 FIRs were registered under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the IPC and Section 3 of the Prevention of Defacement of Property Act across various districts of the Delhi Police.
