New Delhi: The police have arrested an accused in the murder of National Conference leader Trilochan Singh Wazir in Ramesh Nagar. The accused, identified as Rajendra alias Raju, has revealed that a total of four people were involved in this murder.
According to Raju, Wazir was given food mixed with sedatives and was shot dead when he was in an unconscious state. The murder, according to the arrested accused, was committed by one Harpreet Singh Khalsa to avenge the murder of his maternal uncle.
The West District Police of Delhi Police arrested Raju from Jammu. During investigation, the police found that he is a friend of Harpreet Singh Khalsa and used to work as a taxi driver in Mumbai. In the month of August, Harpreet had called him to Delhi in the name of getting him work. Since then he lived with Harpreet.
On September 2, Raju was sent to Jammu to get some goods of Trilochan Singh Wazir. From there, he returned to Delhi September 3 with the luggage in a bus. At the same time, the Wazir had come here September 2.

Raju told the police that Wazir was to go to Canada September 3. That's why they gave him food mixed with sedatives. At that time he and Harpreet Singh Khalsa, along with two others, Harmeet Singh and Billa, were present at Wazir's home. He told the police that Wazir was shot September 3 night when he was unconscious. They then left the body there and escaped from the house one by one. To escape the clutches of the police, Raju had gone to his in-laws' house in Jammu.
After arresting Raju, the West District Police handed him over to the Crime Branch. During interrogation, he said that the mastermind of this murder is Harpreet Singh. Harpreet Singh's maternal uncle was murdered in the year 1983. Harpreet felt that Trilochan had a hand in that murder. To avenge this, he along with Harmeet, Raju and his friend Billa carried out this murder.
Police will present the accused before the court and take him on remand. It may be mentioned that, though Wazir was shot dead in Ramesh Nagar September 3, his body was recovered in the morning of September 9.
