Lucknow: You must have seen drones being used for taking photos of wedding processions, but now such drones can be used for home delivery of food.
Students in Lucknow have prepared such a drone. Its specialities are low cost and better work efficiency. It has been prepared by the students of Lucknow Public College of Professional Studies. Dean of the college Dr LS Awasthi says that he has prepared this drone for about Rs 80,000. Otherwise, the price of a drone of this specification found in the market is about Rs 2.5-3 lakh.
Dr Awasthi said that this drone works only in its range - when it goes out of its range, it comes back to its place. Its operation can be monitored with the help of a monitor. He said that work is being done to improve its capability further. In the times to come, it will also be able to transport goods weighing one to one-and-a-half kg from one place to another. The ability to carry lunch boxes is being developed.

College students Rajat and Apvayan Sinha have prepared this drone. An agreement has been signed with SIDBI in this regard. All legal process is being completed regarding the commercial use of this product. Only after that it will be launched in the market, explained Dr Awashti.
The use of drones has become quite popular for some time now. It is being used for photography and to carry small items from one place to another. In view of the apprehensions of its misuse, some guidelines were also issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Guidelines have been prepared regarding its use in Unmanned Aircraft System Rules, Drones are divided into different categories according to weight and size:
Nano drone: These are drones weighing less than 250 gm and do not require no licence is required to fly these.
Micro drone: These drones weigh more than 200 gm but less than 2 kg. Permission is needed to fly such drones. Drone pilots also have to follow standard operating procedures.
Small drone: Its weight is more than 2 kg but less than 25 kg. Like micro drones, permission is needed to fly these too.
Medium drone: It weighs more than 25 kg but less than 150 kg
Large drone: It weighs more than 150 kg.

A licence is required to fly any type of drone other than the nano category. If caught flying a drone without permission, there can be a fine of Rs 25,000. Flying a drone in a no operation area can attract a fine of up to Rs 50,000.
There are two types of licences are issued to fly drones. The first is the student remote pilot licence and the second is the remote pilot licence. The minimum age of the operator to fly a drone for commercial activity should be 18 years and the maximum is 35 years. The drone operator should at least be a class 10 pass-out or have an equivalent degree from a recognised board.
