New Delhi: Amid the speculation of a third front to fight BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha polls, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar and Trinamool Congress's Yashwant Sinha will host a meeting of opposition leaders and public intellectuals on Tuesday in the national capital to discuss the current political situation.

On Monday, Yashwant Sinha, one of the founders of Rashtra Manch, a political action group founded in 2018, tweeted, "We shall have a meeting of the Rashtra Manch tomorrow at 4 pm. Shri Sharad Pawar has finally agreed to host the meeting at his place." The meeting under the aegis of Rashtra Manch will be attended by leaders of 15 political parties. Besides Yashwant Sinha, former Janata Dal (United) leader Pawan Verma, Aam Aadmi Party's Sanjay Singh, Communist Party India's D Raja, National Conference's Farooq Abdullah, Justice AP Singh, Javed Akhtar, KTS Tulsi, Karan Thapar, Ashutosh, advocate Majeed Memon, Vandana Chavan, former chief election commissioner SY Qureshi, KC Singh, Sanjay Jha, Sudheendra Kulkarni, senior Supreme Court advocate Colin Gonsalves, economist Arun Kumar, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Ghanshyam Tiwari and Priti Nandi will attend the meeting.

It is pertinent to mention here that three invites to Congress leaders went to G-23 members - Kapil Sibbal, Vivek Tankha and Manish Tewari. However, Congress leader Manish Tewari is unlikely to attend the meeting as he is not in New Delhi.

"This meeting has nothing to do with the third front. People selected one party which had promised so many things but did nothing after it came to power. We have so many experienced leaders who worked for the betterment of the public and they can do a lot on the agenda of economy, employment, farmers issues and constitutional conflict," Samajwadi Party spokesperson Ghanshyam Tiwari, one of the invitees of today's Rashtra Manch meeting, told ETV Bharat. "The agenda for today's meeting is to discuss how we can work on it to improve the situation of our country because the government is doing nothing," he added.
