Srinagar: In a major crackdown against stone-pelters and 'anti-nationals', Jammu and Kashmir police has ordered the denial of security clearance for issuance of passports, government jobs and other schemes. Jammu and Kashmir police said that they will not give security clearance for issuance of passport, government jobs and other schemes to the people who are involved in stone-pelting and other 'anti-national' activities. The circular on the same was issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime Investigation Department (CID) (Special Branch, Kashmir).
“All the field units of CID SB-Kashmir are hereby directed to ensure that during verification related to passport, service and any other verification related to government services/schemes, the subject's involvement in law and order, stone-pelting cases and other crime prejudicial to the security of the state be specifically looked into and the same must be corroborated from local police station records," as per the circular. “Also, digital evidence like CCTV footage, photographs, videos and audio clips, quadcopter images available in the records of the police, security forces and security agencies be also referred,” the circular read.
It should also be noted that FIRs have been registered against thousands of people in Kashmir Valley in district police stations for their alleged involvement in stone pelting and other 'anti-national' activities. Owing to pending verification and security clearance by police, thousands of people have been denied passport services in the Valley, as per sources.
Earlier, security clearance was denied to people for involvement in 'anti-national' activities. As per reports, an amendment in the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Verification of Character and Antecedents) Instructions, 1997 by the Union Territory administration made a satisfactory CID report compulsory for attaining a government job.
