Srinagar (J&K): The National Investigating Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted raids at 14 locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with cases related to IED's found at different places, officials said. "NIA raids are going in J&K in connection with the two separate cases. One is IED recovered in Jammu on 27.06.2021 Rc -04/2021 and the other one is a Lashkar-e-Mustafa (LeM) case," an official said, adding that raids are underway at 14 locations in the UT including Shopian, Anantnag, Banihal, Sunjwan and Jammu in connection with the arrest of Lashkar-e-Mustafa (LeM) chief Hidayatullah Malik and recovery of a 7-kg IED in Jammu.
Multiple NIA teams carried out simultaneous raids at these locations in connection with two terror cases. The first case is related to the recovery of a 7-kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near the Jammu bus stand in February this year, while the second is related to a conspiracy by terror organisation LeM nearly a month after the arrest of its chief Hidayatullah Malik and his sensational disclosures, including that NSA Ajit Doval's office in New Delhi, was filmed for a possible terror attack.

The LeM chief had been apprehended by Anantnag Police from the Kunjwani area of Jammu on February 6 this year as he had been planning to set up a base in Jammu, in a bid to carry out terror strikes. The NIA then registered a case relating to a conspiracy against the terror outfit Lashkar-e-Mustafa, for working on behalf of the proscribed terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), to carry out terror activities in the area with an aim of threatening the sovereignty, integrity and security of India.
In this regard, the case was initially registered at Gangyal Police station on February 6 under various sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Following which, the NIA had re-registered the case on March 2 this year and began an investigation. One hand grenade, three magazines and 28 rounds with other incriminating material were seized from the possession of the arrested terrorist Malik, who had carried out a recce of many security installations in Jammu and Delhi in 2018 and 2019 for carrying out terror attacks.

It has been revealed that Malik had been in touch with other terror groups in past and has furthered terror activities in Kashmir valley. On November 2020, the terror outfit had also committed a daylight bank robbery in which Rs 60 lakhs were looted from the main branch of J&K Bank, located in Shopian.
