Mumbai: 14 labourers injured after portion of bridge collapses

As many as 14 labourers were injured after a portion of an under-construction bridge of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority collapsed at around 4.41 am on Friday.

Mumbai: As many as 14 labourers were injured after a portion of an under-construction flyover the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority collapsed on Friday morning. The bridge is situated near the MTNL Junction, Trade Centre, BKC, Bandra East.

The bridge connected Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) main road and Santa Cruz-Chembur Link Road

"The flyover connecting Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) main road and Santa Cruz-Chembur Link Road collapsed around 4:30 am today. All the injured have been shifted to VN Desai Hospital in Santacruz," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 8) Manjunath Singe, said.

The injured people are identified as Anil Singh, Arvind Singh, Azar Ali, Mustaf Ali, Riyazuddin, Motlab Ali, Riyazu Ali, Shravan, Atish Ali, Rlis Ali, Aziz-Ul-Huq, Parvez, Akbar Ali, Shrimand. The identity of the 14th person is yet to be ascertained. They are out of danger.

The DCP said there is no loss of life and no person is missing. The city police and fire brigade personnel reached the spot to conduct search operations.
