MP: Man held for trafficking 200 Bangladeshi girls had married 75 girls

Madhya Pradesh Police, last Thursday, apprehended Munir alias Munirul from Gujarat's Surat over his involvement in the flesh trade and human trafficking of 200 Bangladeshi girls. The accused had also married 75 girls, police say.

Indore: A special investigation team (SIT) of Madhya Pradesh Police on Thursday arrested an accused Munir alias Munirul from Gujarat's Surat over his involvement in the flesh trade and human trafficking of 200 Bangladeshi girls. During the interrogation, it was revealed that the accused had been involved in the flesh trade for five years and that the girls were brought to Indore city in MP and coerced into prostitution. The accused had also married 75 girls, police further stated.

According to Vijay Nagar police, a sex racket was earlier busted in which 21 Bangladeshi girls were rescued and Sagar alias Sando, Afreen and Amreen were taken into custody. However, they were unable to catch Munir as he had absconded by then.

Police said that the arrested accused used to traffic the girls through Murshidabad into India, via a drain at the Indo-Bangla border, with the help of agents living in small hamlets near the border. He also used to give Rs 25,000 to the soldiers posted along the border and used to transport a large number of girls to different cities across the country, police added.

Munir, a resident of Jasore, Bangladesh, had also sold most of the girls whom he had married and there is a huge network behind it. The accused has confessed that a gang associated with the sex racket had been training the girls in Kolkata and Mumbai. The girls mostly lured from poor families were also sent on demand to other cities in the country.

Speaking on the matter, Vijay Nagar SHO Tehzeeb Qazi said, "An agent involved in prostitution has been arrested from Surat city, it is an old case, in which 21 girls were rescued after raiding a guest house, wherein prostitution was being held. 11 of the rescued girls were Bangladeshi, while the rest of the girls were from other cities, one accused in the gang was absconding, a reward of 10 thousand rupees was also placed on the accused by the police. The girls were brought into the country illegally, after which they were prepared by training them for prostitution."
