Jamui (Bihar): The video of a minor boy being brutally thrashed by a mob in the Town police station of the district on allegations of a bicycle theft has gone viral on social media.
Though the child kept denying that he stole the bicycle and pleaded that he be freed, the local residents kicked, punched and whipped him with belts without listening to him. The incident was captured on video and this has now gone viral on social media.
According to information received, this incident happened at Jaishankar Nagar locality of Bodhvan Talab area. Recently, a bicycle of Ganesh Singh, a resident of this locality, was stolen. The villagers then caught the minor boy on the charge of stealing the bicycle.

In the video, it is seen that the boy's hands are tied with people surrounding him from all sides. While some people kicked and punched him, others whipped him with belts. He was even tied to a tree and thrashed mercilessly.
Stating that the incident has been reported, SDPO Dr Rakesh Sharma said that the child has been rescued from the clutches of the mob and the video is being investigated.
“The victim has not been identified yet but information is being gathered,” Dr Sharma said. “The video is being investigated. Action will be taken against the culprits after investigation. However, till now no complaint has been lodged by the victim or on his behalf."
Instead of rescuing the child, people passing by only took videos of the mob thrashing him for about two hours. Police was also not aware of the matter.
