Maneka Gandhi visited the Narayanpur locality here and adopted a newborn during a baby shower ceremony here. Earlier, a large number of Bharatiya Janata Party officials and workers reached the toll plaza and welcomed her . Party representative Ranjit Kumar and media in-charge Vijay Raghuvanshi were among those who welcomed her.

The Allahabad High Court, while hearing a case September 1, had said that the cow should not be looked at only from a religious point of view. Culture should be protected by every citizen. The court remarked that the cow should be given the status of the national animal and for this a bill should be brought in Parliament. The court was of the view that the country will prosper only if the cow is worshipped.

While dismissing a petition filed by a person named Javed, the High Court made this important remark. A case has been registered against Javed under Sections 3, 5 and 8 of the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act. The court, while rejecting the petition, said that cow protection is not the responsibility of only one religion. Cow is the culture of this country and it is everyone's responsibility to protect it.
