Roorkee (Uttarakhand): Police filed a case against a man for uploading pornographic contents of children on social media.
According to sources, the matter was taken up by the Roorkee police following directions from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
The accused is learned to be a resident of Dandera of Kotwali area, Roorkee's civil line. Reportedly, some families lodged a complaint directly with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
At present, the police are investigating more mobile numbers to ascertain whether photographs or videos were shared with more people.
The Home Ministry took immediate action as the matter was related to children. The ministry forwarded the complaint to Dehradun Cyber Cell and ordered an immediate inquiry. A report was further forwarded to the SSP office in Haridwar. Since the incident fell in the jurisdiction of Roorkee, orders were given to the Roorkee Police to take action immediately.
Subsequently, Roorkee Civil Line Kotwali Police registered a case and took the accused into custody. Kotwali Police Station in-charge Rajesh Shah said that the accused is being questioned and other aspects are also being investigated in depth.
