Buldana (Maharashtra): At least 13 workers were killed after a truck carrying them along with iron rods overturned after the driver lost control in the Buldhana district of Maharashtra on Friday.
Three workers have also been injured and their condition is stated to be critical.
The incident took place near Talegaon Fata around 12 noon on Friday when the workers along with the iron rods were being taken to work on the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway project.
'The tipper was speeding and it overturned due to a large pothole on the road. Thirteen labourers were killed and two others were injured,' Buldhana Superintendent of Police Arvind Chavria said.
After getting information about it, the personnel of the Kingaon Raja police station rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Eight workers died on the spot after being crushed under the tipper while five others died at the hospital.
The identity of the deceased have not been ascertained yet, however, most of the labourers were from Uttar Pradesh.
