Thiruvananthapuram: 'Prema' in Malayalam should be understood with a degree of caution. If you have any qualms, here's a brief stat: In the last four years alone, 350 young girls had lost their lives, all because of love affairs. Of the total number, around 10 girls were killed by their stalkers as their love proposals were spurned off and the remaining 340 had committed suicide for 'love failure'.
Love is the most romantic feeling any youth across the world would nurture. While many still live with a successful love story behind them, many still eagerly wait for a wonderful story to happen and still some others live with the love that they lost in the past. But in Kerala, love has become something that often ends with revenge leading to mindless acts.
Passion crimes took the lives of two girls last year, both by their stalkers who had sought revenge for having turned down their proposal. Last year, 96 girls killed themselves in the name of love affairs.
