Hyderabad: Actor-turned-politician and BJP leader Khushbu Sundar on Saturday hit back at the Congress for digging out her five-year-old tweet against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's disqualification, Congress slammed the BJP over Sundar's tweet where she criticised Modi in 2018. Responding to Congress on her social media account, Sundar, who quit Congress to join BJP in 2020, wrote she was speaking the "language of the leader" at that time as she was told to do so and also questioned the 'desperation' of Congress.
Sundar wrote that she will not delete the old tweet and asked Congress to find more such tweets as they were jobless. She said the manner in which Congress had dug up her tweet reveals how desperate the opposition party was. In a veiled attack on Congress, she thanked the party for putting her on the same platform with Rahul Gandhi, who claimed as the opposition leader of the nation. "I will not delete my tweet. It’s out there. There are many more. Pls use your time, as Congress is absolutely jobless, to dig out a few more. BTW I like to see how the Congress is putting me and @RahulGandhi on the same platform. I like the fact that I have earned enough name n respect to be at par with him, who claims to be the opp. Leader of the nation. Thank you Congress," she posted this evening.

In another tweet, the BJP leader mentioned she was not the spokesperson of her party. She also asked Congress leaders to do their homework and save themselves from embarrassment. "It’s like Congress will give you an agenda to attack n you do it blindly. Nothing has changed n nothing will. No wonder they are failing miserably," she tweeted. In her 2018 tweet that has gone viral, Sundar wrote: "...Let's change the meaning of #Modi to corruption..suits better." Sundar said that she was in Congress party at that time and was performing her duty as the spokesperson of the Congress. She said this was the language they were supposed to and she was following the party leader.
Earlier, Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh questioning Modi on Twitter "will you make one of your disciples named Modi file a defamation case against Khushbu Sundar too?"
