Thiruvananthapuram: During the first day of the budget session in Kerala Assembly, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan read the State’s policy statement leaving no room for any controversy, on Friday. The policy address, which included strong criticisms on the Centre’s farm bills and the State’s concerns, was presented by Arif Mohammed Khan.
The opposition, however, made attempts to disrupt the house proceedings right from the time the Governor arrived to present his customary address to commence the Budget session.
The policy statement said the sections included in the farm laws would only support the corporate’s monopoly. The farm bill would severely affect Kerala, which is a consumer state. The policy statement condemned the attempt to remove the support price system for the farmers. The ongoing farmer’s protest against the Centre’s farm bills is one of the greatest protests the country has seen, the Governor said reading out the policy statement.
Criticism against the central agencies was also included in the policy address. The central agencies are trying to derail the dream projects of the State.
Earlier, the Governor had denied permission to convene a special assembly session to pass a resolution against the Centre’s farm laws twice. He was later convinced and the session was convened after about a week.
Considering this, the Governor’s approach towards the policy address was keenly awaited.
