New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly, Siddaramaiah met Congress party's interim president Sonia Gandhi at her residence on 10 Janpath in Delhi at 12pm on Tuesday. Siddaramaiah has been summoned by Sonia Gandhi.
The meeting lasted for 30 minutes and Siddaramiah refrained from addressing media. The meeting comes amid speculations of his accommodation at the party's central level to support Congress' former president Rahul Gandhi.
However, Siddaramiah has been repeatedly claiming that he is not interested in national politics and he wants to continue working in Karnataka. In addition, there is a rift within Karnataka's Congress unit, between Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivkumar, president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.
The decision regarding the appointment of office-bearers in the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee is yet to be made. It should also be noted that Shivkumar had earlier visited Delhi to meet party state-in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala and the central leadership.
