However, when the family members tried reaching the victim his mobile phone was switched off. Following no contact from Suraj, his family members on February 1 registered a missing complaint with the Chainpur Police Station.

On tracking the mobile number from the investigation done in the light of the report, his last location showed the metro station Meenambakkam Chennai - 60016.

The MP added that in another local inquiry, it was found that a taxi driver named Sridhar had dropped Suraj near NSG Camp, Oteri police station, three days after which, Suraj was found in 90 per cent burnt condition in Veljipada forest Maharashtra.

He died during treatment at Naval Hospital in Mumbai.

MP Vishnu Dayal Ram wrote that according to the statement given before his death, Suraj said at around 11 am outside Chennai Airport, three unidentified men abducted him in a white SUV and allegedly demanded a ransom of 10 lakh on January 30. They also kept him for three days.

Raising questions on the Maharashtra police, the MP asked why the force did not start looking for him immediately and how the naval personnel reached Maharashtra is still unclear.
